Independent valuation

Considered valuations for coins, medals, jewellery and collectables

Imperial Auction Services, based in Chorley, Lancashire, gives owners an independent view of what a piece is, its condition, and the context in which it sits. We value rare coins, banknotes, jewellery, stamps, militaria, medals and other small collectables, whether a single item or a wider private holding. Every appraisal is grounded in condition, market precedent and historical significance, and we are straightforward about the market expectations that follow.

How a valuation works

From first review to formal appraisal

01

Photographic review

Send clear photographs and a short description of each piece, including any marks, dates or known history. We review these first to decide the most useful next step.

02

Remote or in-person assessment

Smaller collectables can often be assessed from images and your description. Larger or more complex holdings may need an in-person visit so we can examine condition and detail directly.

03

In-hand inspection

We examine each item closely, noting material, condition, wear and authenticity indicators. Precise observation is the foundation of a reliable appraisal.

04

Written appraisal

You receive a clear written valuation setting out what was examined, the basis for the figure and the market context. We explain any uncertainty plainly.
